“Faith of our Fathers” is hymn about Christian persecution written by Roman Catholic Frederick Faber in the 19th century. Persecution itself has been a part of the church’s life from the beginning, and remains part of its life today. It’s promised to remain until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faith of our fathers, living still,
in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
when e’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee to death.
